Good Morning....

I only had a 2.2 lbs loss this week but I was happy with that. I was out of town for a bachelor party to Cancun for 5 days. So when I saw that 2.2 lbs loss this morning I was really happy....

The physical challenge for this week was the fastest mile for the week. My fastest mile this week was 13 minutes and 15 seconds. Not bad for a guy who couldnt even walk a mile about 7 months ago.

The non-physical challenge was for us was to have 5 servings of fruit and veggies a day. This was a challenge for me since I was out of town. However I was able to do it everyday. I am so happy that I am in this challenge it has helped me stay focused and helped me lose weight.

WOW!!!!! a 10.4 lb loss for me for the week...That is unbelievable......

This week are challenge was for us to Track our minutes for working out. I had 360 minutes for the challenge. As you can see my weight loss was high for the week because of my large number of work out minutes.

My non workout challenge was to give up fast food. I actually did very welll in that challenge. I havent had fast food in over 2 weeks....

This is my second weigh in for the "Shrinkvivor Challenge".... I have lost 7 lbs ..... That is awesome.....

Day 35

Good Morning!!!

So like I said in my post yesterday I had hit a "Road Block". However I am back to my normal routine again. Thank God.

So yesterday I did something that I haven't done ever...I did a 10K...You heard me right I ran a 10k which is equivalent to 6.2 miles. I did it in less then 90 minutes. I ran the entire time. I was so proud of myself. I couldn't believe that I did it. I could remember when I started my weight loss journey on March 15th, 2010, I could barely do a half hour on the treadmill. Now here I am today doing a 10K. I would like to thank my trainer, Rob (from Executive Fitness) for pushing me to do this. Also I would like to think Kimmy for running the 10K with me, your the best Kimmy. Here is a picture of the treadmill screen after I finished running:



This picture tells it all....I ran 6.2 miles in under 90 minutes and burned 1,348 calories...Holy Cow!!!! I was so exhausted and excited at the same time....This is a real accomplishment....

Discourged

Hello All,

As you all can see I haven't blogged in awhile(I did blog 2 posts which said that the scale at Health Bridge-Crystal Lake hasn't been available for my last 2 weigh in's buts that's all I blogged). I have hit a "road block" in my weight loss journey. Let me tell you about it:
A few weeks ago my sister had a house warming party at her new home. After the party I was watching the home video that was taken at the party. I saw myself and wasn't happy the way I looked. I said to myself "how can I look like this after losing 81 pounds". I was so disgusted with my self. I couldn't bear to even look at myself. I know that many of you have said that you are so proud of me for losing the weight. But when I saw myself that day I wasn't happy at all. So what have I been doing since that day???? I started to eat bad and didn't pay much attention to working out. However yesterday I had a turning point. When I was getting ready for my cousins engagement party it hit me. I couldn't fit into a indian outfit that I was almost able to fit into a few months ago. I was heading in the wrong direction. I worked to hard to let everything go down the drain. So this morning when I woke up, I decided that I am not going to give up. I have worked way to hard and I have so many people that have been with me through this journey that I can't let down. I made a promise to myself that I am not going to go back to the 332.5 lb Jay. No way... I know that I am going to feel like this for awhile when I see a picture of myself. Its a mental thing. So what can I do? I guess I could just ignore it and just pretend I don't see myself. Or just work harder. Whatever I do I don't want to go back to where I was. I have made so many people proud especially myself.
I hope that this post will help anyone that has or will have run into a "roadblock" like I have. I am so excited to get back into my regimen. 100 pounds here I come....

Weigh-In August 13, 2010

I wasn't able to weigh in this morning because the scale at Health Bridge-Crystal Lake is in the locker room and the locker room is being renovated so no one is allowed in it. Hopefully I will be able to weigh in next friday. I could use another scale but I want to use the same scale to weigh in ever week. This is scary that I haven't been able to weigh in a few days. Hopefully when I weigh in next week that I don't see a gain. I guess the positive thing is that Health Bridge-Crystal Lake will have a renovated locker room.

Day 21

Good Afternoon!

I had a very busy weekend!! However I was able to get a few runs in, not my normal cardio but something is better then nothing.

Yesterday, I did half hour of cardio with Keeva and then I did a half hour of cardio with Kimmy. I also did my usual 200 situps. Its funny how after a busy weekend you feel like you need a additional day just to get back into the grooves of things.

Day 18

Good Morning...

Yesterday I hit a "mini" milestone, I have lost 81 pounds in 4 and a half months!!! That is incredible. My next goal is to lose 100 pounds by the end of September 2010. I really think I can do this. As I sit here this morning thinking about how miserable I looked and felt 81 pounds ago, I say to myself I never want to look or feel that way again. I know that losing 81 pounds wasn't easy but honestly it wasn't impossible. I have received numerous emails from people that are in the same situation that I was in. I want these people to know that if I, the 332.5 pound overweight guy can lose 81 pounds in 4 and a half months then anyone can. Thanks to everyone that has been there for me for this "mini" milestone. I love u all!!

Day 17

Good Afternoon..

Yesterday was a busy day for me.

I went to Health Bridge-Crystal Lake and did 30 minutes on the Elliptical and walked 15 minutes around the track. Then I did 300 situps.

For Breakfast I had 2 boxes of Cheerios with skim milk and a banana.

For lunch I had chick peas and a bag of smart popcorn.

Then I went to Executive Fitness and did 60 minutes on the elliptical machine with Keeva. I also did 200 situps.

Usually after Executive Fitness I would be going to Health Bridge but tonight I am bypassing a workout to hang out with a few friends. I know you must be thinking "wow, I can't believe Jay gave up working out". Honestly, I do have a life outside of working out. However when I am working out I do it intensely. I figured that I should reward myself for my hard work. I had a wonderful time with my boys last night!! Thanks guys, hopefully we can hang out again..

Day 16

Good Morning....Yesterday was another "Very Good" Work-out and eating day for me.

So I got up at 4:45 a.m. yesterday and went to Health Bridge-Crystal Lake to do 30 minutes on the Elliptical Machine and walked 15 minutes on the track. After the cardio I did 300 Sit-ups.

For Breakfast I had 2 Mini-boxes of Regular Cheerios with skim milk and a banana.


For Lunch I had brown rice with yogurt (As I tell Prachi "Day 2 of 2" lol).


After I ate my lunch I went out and walked around the trails at work. Today was another humid and muggy day.


Then in the evening I went to Executive Fitness and did 200 situps. After the situps I did 30 minutes of Cardio with Kimmy and Keeva. Then Kimmy and I did another 30 minutes. Man we were exhausted.

So after Executive Fitness I went to Health Bridge to meet up with the guy that I had mentioned on the Day 8 Post (July 28, 2010). He doesnt want me to use his real name so I will call him "B". B wanted to see what I do at the gym and wanted me to be his mentor. So B and I spent a few hours at the gym. We weighed B in just like how I weighed myself in on March 15th. We also did a little bit of cardio and did some situps. I gave B a outline of my workout and eating schedule. B, I know that right now you must be thinking that it is impossible to lose the weight but B, dont worry I will work with you. I had a good time working out with you. See you soon B. Dont forget "Cardio, Cardio, and then some more Cardio...."

Day 15

Good Morning....

Yesterday was another "Very Good" Work-out and eating day for me.

So I got up at 4:45 a.m. yesterday and went to Health Bridge-Crystal Lake to do 30 minutes on the Elliptical Machine and walked 15 minutes on the track. After the cardio I did 300 Sit-ups.

For Breakfast I had 2 Mini-boxes of Regular Cheerios with skim milk.

For Lunch I had brown rice with yogurt (Prachi's mom, Kailashauntie made it for me, I would like to say Thank you to Kailashauntie, she has cooked AWESOME "fat-free" meals for me during this journey).

After I ate my lunch I went out and walked around the hospital. Man was it hot and humid.

Also during the day I was munching on the awesome "Watermelon" basket that Karen from work had brought in. It was yummy....

Then in the evening I went to Executive Fitness and did 200 situps. After the situps I did 60 minutes of Cardio with Kimmy.

Then I went to Health Bridge-Crystal Lake again and did 150 situps. I also swam and sat in the Whirlpool(it felt soooo good sitting in the whirlpool. Health Bridge has a awesome Whirlpool).

After I went home from Health Bridge-Crystal Lake I had a bowl of assorted fruits.

Also during the day I received a email from my friend Jen at Health Bridge Wellness. We are going to brainstorm some ideas on how to incorporate what I have accomplished with associates of Centegra and members of Health Bridge. I am so excited about this opportunity. I know that I have a ways to go on my journey but I want people to know that this journey is possible, and I think me talking about it will let me people know. Day 14

Good Morning....

Yesterday was a Very Good Work-out and eating day for me. I am back on track after taking the weekend off... I am so glad....

So I got up at 4:45 a.m. yesterday and went to Health Bridge-Crystal Lake to do 30 minutes on the Elliptical Machine and walked 15 minutes on the track. After the cardio I did 300 Sit-ups.

For Breakfast I had 2 Mini-boxes of Regular Cheerios with skim milk.

For Lunch I had a Veggie Sandwich on Wheat bread with a bag of Baked Lays chips.

After I ate my lunch I went out and walked (without my friend Beth who is on a family vacation)around the outdoor trails at work.

Then in the evening I went to Executive Fitness and did 200 situps. After the situps I did 30 minutes of Cardio with Kimmy. Then our friend Keeva joined us for another 30 minutes. I was soaked after I did the 1 hour of cardio, but felt awesome....

After I went home from Executive I had a bowl of assorted fruits.

I had a very productive Work out day yesterday, I was very pleased.

Like I told Kimmy and Keeva yesterday, it is my goal to be down 100 pounds by the end of September 2010. If I have days like I did yesterday, I will make my goal...

Weekend

Hello Guys,

Wow! This weekend was a "Non-Cardio" one for me. I did "Zero" Cardio. That's ok though, I needed a few days away from the gym. However, I texted both Kimmy and Keeva on Sunday night and told them that we need to start our regimen up again on Monday. Its ok to take a few days off but just a few. Everyone needs a break.
So what did I do this weekend? On Friday we went out for my brother-in laws Birthday(his Birthday was on Saturday, Happy Birthday Jiten(he has the same name as me). We went to a mexican restaurant called Salsa 17. It is one of our favorite restaurants. Its located in beautiful downtown Arlington Heights, IL. Then on Saturday we went to Karen(one of my co-workers) annual Summer Party. I had a lot of fun there. Let me tell you Karen knows how to throw one heck of a party. Karen, I can't wait till next years party.
I also want to say thanks to Karens daughter, Ashley. She really made my day on Saturday. She said "Jiten, you lost half of you". I was so happy with that compliment. Not to "toot" my own horn but I have been getting at least one compliment a day from someone, sometimes even more. That makes me happy and gives me the drive to continue on this journey. Thanks to everyone for telling me to keep up the hard work. That means a lot to me. Have a good day!!!

Day 9

Good Morning!!

Yesterday was a really relaxing day for me. I worked during the day and went to the city to see Prachi.
I did 45 minutes of Cardio at Health Bridge-Crystal Lake. I also walked during my lunch with Beth. Unfortunately I didn't do any Cardio in the evening. That's ok, like my friend Kimmy says "Don't beat yourself up". Thanks for the advice Kimmy..

Day 8

Hello All,

Yesterday was a Ok day.

During lunch, I walked with my walking buddy Beth "Beths". We walked around the trails around the hospital (Centegra-Mchenry). If anyone would like to walk with us please email me and we can set up a time. Beth and I have been walking during our lunch for the past few months. We try to walk as often as possible. Beth has been a good friend to walk with. Thanks Beth..
My evening cardio was a little rough. I went to Executive Fitness and did Cardio for a half hour with Kimmy. After that I was about to call it a day but I knew Kimmy wouldn't let me stop after the half hour so we went another half hour for a total of 1 hour. Thanks Kimmy!! I also owe this extra motivation to our friend Keeva, who did 70 mins of Cardio in the morning by herself. I know that I have been asked by many of you, how can I do so much cardio? The answer to that is I have my friends to do Cardio with. I don't think I could so much cardio if I had to do it by myself. So its always good to have a buddy to do cardio with. Believe me time goes by so fast.
I received a interesting email a few days ago. The person that sent me the email said it was ok for me to share his story on my blog. He had a story so similiar to what I had 4 months ago. He is overweight, been called fat by people around him, has a membership to a gym but never goes, watches weight loss shows while eating fatty foods, is so shy around people, etc... When I read his email I really thought of me about 4 months ago. I know how I felt then and I know how he was feeling. Unfortunatly in society "overweight" people are looked down upon. Its not like we want to be this way. I can tell you that I have had a gym membership for most of my life but I was still overweight. One thing that has stuck in my head from his email is "Jay, I know that I am overweight, and I know I have tried to lose weight before but this time is different. This time I have finally found someone that was were I am and can understand the issues I have. I know that I might not be able to lose the weight as fast as you, but atleast I have someone that I can talk to and motivate me because you are the "average joe"". That made me feel so good. Like I have said before I have done this journey and am still doing it and want to help as many people as I can. Like I told my new friend in his response email, "you have done the first step in losing weight, you admitted your problem and want to do something about it.". That means so much to me. Like I told him and I am going to tell you all, I will do whatever it takes to help all of you to lose weight.

Busy Weekend

Hello All,

I had a very busy weekend... However I did workout alot to offset my bad eating.
On Friday night I went to dinner with Prachi at a Restaurant called Tutto Italiano. The food was excellent. I only eat half my meal and brought the other half home. We walked from the condo to the restaurant and then back to the condo from the restaurant. It was a total of 3 miles. Also we walked thru the rain on the way back because Prachi says that I am a "cheapo filipo" (In other words I didnt want to take a cab, I figured since we are already wet why should we cab it and lose out on the opportunity to walk..right?) LOL...
On Saturday morning, Prachi and I ran/walked about 3 miles around Lake Michigan. After our wonderful run/walk we went to brunch at a place called the Bongo Room in the South Loop of Chicago. It was the BEST breakfast place that I have ever gone to. If you are ever downtown, look this place up and go try it (they have 2 locations in the City). After our brunch we walked down Michigan Avenue (by the way we saw a Indian Wedding having their Baraat, which is the relatives from the guys side come singing and dancing to the wedding site in a procession).
On Sunday I did 2 hours of cardio with Kimmy and Keeva at Executive Fitness. Then I headed off to Health Bridge Crystal to soak in the Whirlpool ( I really needed that after all the running I had done during the weekend).

Yesterday was another good workout day. I did a hour of cardio with Kimmy and another hour of cardio with Bree at Executive Fitness. I also went to Health Bridge and went swimming for 45 mins. I did a lot of cardio yesterday because it was my "last chance workout" before my weigh in this morning. I was very happy with my weigh in this morning. Starting Weight on My Weight Loss Journey

MY WEIGHT ON MARCH 15, 2010....... (Health Bridge- Crystal Lake)

Day 2

Yesterday was a good day. I got alot of texts and emails from my friends and family letting me know that they are excited about my blog and cant wait for my posts. That was real nice to hear from them.
So what I have decided to do is, every Friday I am going to post my Weight from my Weigh-in. I will try to weigh in around the same time, with the same clothing and on the same scale(I am going to use the Scale at Health Bridge- Crystal Lake). Please look for the 1st official weigh in tomorrow.
So what else did I do besides respond to my texts and emails yesterday. Actually I went to the gym of course. Actually I went to both of my gyms. Yes you heard me correctly I said both. I am a member at Executive Fitness Club of Crystal Lake, IL and also am a member of Health Bridge Fitness Center of Crystal Lake and Huntley, IL.
I went to Executive Fitness and did Cardio (the Treadmill) with my new found friend Keeva. Then I headed over to Health Bridge and soaked in the sauna and used the pool. It was a good workout day for me.
I also want to send a shout out to Rob at Executive Fitness. He is my "trainer" at the club. He has showed me things that I haven't been shown before by any trainer. Also at the gym I have been doing cardio with my beautiful friend Kimmy for the last 3 months or so. We do at least a 1/2 hour of cardio a day but most days its 1 hour. We meet atleast 5 times a week if not 6. If you need a good personal gym to work out you should visit Rob and Rick (Owner of Executive Fitness) and tell them Jay sent you.
I have been a member of Health Bridge for along time. I really like Health Bridge. They have 2 gyms in McHenry County. One in Crystal Lake and one in Huntley. I usually go to the one in Crystal Lake. I visit the Crystal Lake Health Bridge every morning before work. Its funny how often I visit them, they even know my name and what locker i want (thats called Real Good Customer Satisfaction). Then I go again in the evening to use the pool and the sauna. They run a nice club. I have tried many clubs in the area and am VERY happy with Centegra Health Clubs

Day 1

Day 1

Actually this is Day 127 of my weight loss Journey but Day 1 of my blog. So before I get started I would love to tell you all how I started my weight loss Journey and why I started.
I started this Journey (or should I call it "A Life changing" experience?) on March 15th, 2010. Why this day and not any other day? This day was 2 days after my black eyed peas concert at the United Center (by the way, the black eyed peas were awesome). I was sitting at the concert in a regular seat and I was just so uncomfortable. Not that I wasn't able to fit in the seat(but believe me I wasn't to far from not fitting) but I was just so uncomfortable and miserable. How did I get myself to this size? So I made a pact to myself that starting on Monday (how many of you have said that?) March 15, 2010, that I am going to work out and start eating right. Since that day that is what I have been doing. Don't get me wrong, I have cheated a few days here and there, but I only cheat a few days and get back to my regimen again. I have tried to lose weight a million times before, just like many of you have, but for some reason this was the one that I wasn't going to give up on. I know that I should have started to blog earlier but I was just so embarrassed of my weight and the way I looked that I didn't want anyone to know my weight(even the people that I love and care for). I am ready to share my story and help anyone out that would like help. I will try to blog on a daily basis and give weight updates and any advice that I can give.
